Gallery Publications was started by Javed Jafferji. After finishing his National Diploma in Photography and Higher National Diploma in Photography, Television and Filming in London, Javed approached publishers in the UK with a proposal to develop a coffee table book, featuring Tanzania, his home. Unfortunately, the publishers declined, telling him that the project was not commercially viable. Javed returned to Zanzibar and started his own company, publishing books and magazines in partnership with talented writers, promoting tourism in Tanzania and showcasing in his photography.

Gallery Publications has gone from strength to strength since its humble beginnings and is now one of the most respected and innovative publishers of illustrated books in East Africa. Our publications on art, architecture, graphics, design, fashion, photography, decorative arts, archaeology, history, travel and music combine the best writing with beautiful printing and are wonderful addition to every collection.

We pride ourselves on the high standard of all the books we deliver, both in content and quality of productions. We publish between 6 to 8 new titles each year.
